Competition:FIFA Confederations Cup Final
Date:Sunday, Jun 30th,2014
Now, nearly three years on, Spain are once again in South America and
once again outsiders, only this time Brazil wait for the world and
European champions in a dream final of the Confederations Cup at the
Maracana on Sunday.
This could quite easily be the World Cup final next year, although
Spain will be hoping if that is the case they get longer to prepare
having been taken to penalties by Italy in sweltering conditions on
Thursday.
Roberto Soldado and Cesc Fabregas have returned to fitness and Sergio
Ramos and Gerard Pique should be fine despite missing training, while
reports in Spain suggest Vicente del Bosque is considering a start for
Javi Martinez.
Brazil boss Phil Scolari has no injury problems and his major
decision is whether to stick with the underperforming Hulk. Lucas Moura
or Hernanes could come in for Hulk if Big Phil decides to drop the Zenit
forward.
The Confederations Cup hosts have lost one home competitive match in
50 years – the last of which came in 1975 - and are slight favourites
with bookmakers to deny the all-conquering Spanish another trophy.
Spain and Brazil clash
on the football field in the Confederations Cup final on Sunday, it
will be Spain's golden generation against Brazil's young brigade.
The Spanish team
has won back-to-back European championships and the World Cup with
their current team and will be hoping to add the Confederations Cup to
the list tonight.
Brazil who
are playing at home will have the stands full with supporters as their
young players look to set the football team on a path of victory with
this win as the 2014 World Cup which will be held in the country draws
close.
Neymar has
been the star of the Brazilian team with his goals and passes while
Spain has seen brilliance from the team as a whole. Brazil who have won
the World Cup five times have been unsuccessful for sometime now and
will be hoping to change their fortune with momentum as they face the
World Champions.
The match promises to have a mix of Samba and Flamenco on the football
field from kick-off to the final whistle. Fans can only be ensured of a
thrilling encounter
